Multi Terabyte Storage Servers and high performance cluster nodes are used by the 17 UK Universities and associated research institutions which make up the distributed computing

 network known as    GridPP is used to analysis the data from the European Organisation for Nuclear Research and the site of the L.H.C. ( Large Hadron Collider) experiments.

Typical configuration for a 48 Tb Stand alone RAID array

  •     Up to 8 DIMMS of registered or un-buffered DDR3 memory
  •     Hot swap 1010W high efficiency 1+1 redundant power supplies
  •     Dual on board Gigabit Ethernet
  •     Full IPMI management via independent LAN
  •     24 Hot swap drive bays supporting the latest high volume SAS/SATA disc drives
  •     2 hot swap drive bays for mirrored O/S hard drives
  •     DVD drive
  •     RAID 1,5,6,10,50,60 and JBOD support
  •     Windows® and Linux® operating systems support
  •     BIOS set up utility and web-based RAID system management software
  •     External four lane mini SAS connection allows easy additional external storage.
Add up to 24Tb more. Connect 12 more SAS/SATA drives to an existing Server by simply connecting a 12 bay expander using a SAS daisy chain connection at 1200Mb/s . Allocate drives to an existing array or create additional arrays on the fly. Unit supplied with dual 420W redundant power supply.

And more! choose a further 16 SAS/SATA drives to add up to 32 Tb to an existing array by simply connecting a 16 bay expander. Connection by 1200Mb/s SAS  to allocate drives to an existing array or create additional RAID arrays on the fly. Unit supplied with dual 460W redundant power supply.

And still more! additional storage units can be added by SAS daisy chain connection to support up to a total of 256 SAS or SATA devices. This could allow expansion to a staggering 512Tb or half a Petabyte of raw storage.
